About us

Wygwam, a division of the Niko Group, is a dynamic organization specializing in innovative solutions. We are currently looking for a talented Lead Embedded Software Developer to join our R&D team and drive excellence in our embedded software development initiatives.

 

The opportunity

As our new Lead Embedded Software Developer, you will be responsible for leading a team of embedded software engineers, active participation in project execution, mentoring team members, and contributing technically to embedded software design and development. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who thrives in both coding and coaching environments. Where you'll play a crucial role in shaping our product development and technical direction for our commercial portfolio. Mainly lighting control, sensors and detectors.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the embedded software development team, code reviews, mentoring, and performance management
  • Architect, design, and implement RTOS embedded software for microcontrollers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within R&D (Hardware & App development, Validation) and with Quality, Customer Support, and Product Management teams
  • Work effectively with external development partners to achieve project goals
  • Define and improve development processes, standards, and best practices
  • Ensure software quality, documentation, and compliance with relevant standards
  • Drive continuous improvement in team and product performance
  • Represent R&D in internal and external system architectural discussions

Profile

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded software development (C/C++, RTOS, bare metal)
  • Proven experience in leading or mentoring a development team
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum work methodology (Certified Scrum Master is a big plus)
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers (e.g., Cypress, Silicon Labs), peripherals, and protocols (SPI, I2C, UART)
  • Familiarity with development tools like Eclipse, Simplicity Studio or similar
  • Experience with debugging tools and a hands-on approach to hardware
  • Proficiency with Jira, Git, Bitbucket or similar tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication in English and organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of security regulations (NIS2, CRA, ISO27001) is an advantage
